15th Beijing INTERNATIONal book fair: AR heat (AR creates add-on value)

In the book fair, Classic of Mountains and Seas, the ancient Chinese classic book, was exhibited as the background story of Fenghuang, an interactive AR Game, which aims at education, popularization of science and entertainment. In addition, it is also the first time that AR technology is utilised on the quintessence of Chinese culture. There were ten classic scenes selected from The Monkey King and AR technology was used on 16 Peking Opera masks, so that children can read the whole story from the Monkey King by scanning those masks. After knowing the background story, readers were allowed to paint the Peking Opera mask from each scene and visualise them by scanning.

Apple redefines the future with AR

At Apple's last annual developer conference in June, one new tool captured the attention of developers perhaps more than any other product or tool introduced that day. Called ARKit, the tool for iOS 11 enables developers to create augmented reality applications that place digital objects in the real world.
The new iPhone X is also capable of recognizing a user’s face using an infrared camera, which allows access to the phone and it’s popular digital services, like Apple Pay. The iPhone X's new facial recognition hardware tracks over 50 muscle movements in your brow, cheek, lips, jaw, and mouth. When added together, the movement of these different facial features — such as the formation of dimples — gives the phone the facial data it needs to create a similarly expressive animoji.
Apple also launched some AR mobile games, which indicates the future of AR gaming looks bright.
